What comes to your mind when you hear the word spiritual?
Is it something that comforts your soul, or something that connects you to your surroundings?
For someone in his 20s, dance isn’t just something he is excellent at, it is his medium of expression. It keeps him going. Ryan Martyr, the So You Think You Can Dance contestant, and a teacher to many is not fascinated by glamor, he isn’t conditioned to chase fame, he looks beyond.
Live a life worth writing for, believes Ryan. And here he is, being written about.
He dances for fun, he dances because it is what he feels serves his purpose of existence. If you’ve ever had the privilege of witnessing his art, you’ll understand how naturally it comes to him. What makes him stand out is the lack of attention he gives to the technicalities and the abundance he pays to expression. He stands out because of the waterfall of talent he is gifted with.
Ask him about his dreams, and he’ll have the most peculiar thing to say; he wants to build himself a tree house and have a buffet for all street dogs. At 25, he wished to retire, not from dancing..but the city life.
Although, coming out in front of an audience with the kind of skill he has, his plans might have been hampered for a while.
We’re looking forward to hearing him talk about his passion, dedication, and journey at JOSH TALKS 2016: LEAP on the 22nd and 23rd of October at Thyagaraj Stadium, New Delhi.
