Many hopeful entrepreneurs apply to Ivy League universities in the US to go for an MBA or to do a program to enhance their business skills. But due to the very competitive nature of these programm, many deserving candidates miss out. Having noticed this, Stanford University’s Graduate School of Business came to Bangalore in 2013 to conduct a 10-week part-time program that attracts the best entrepreneurs and business executives from diverse fields ranging from science, technology, engineering, finance and law. This year too, for the fourth consecutive session, Stanford University is back to conduct their flagship programme Stanford-Ignite and are now inviting applications for their program.
The program, which runs from January – March 2017, will be taught by the same Stanford professors who teach at the school’s world-renowned MBA program. These faculty will deliver instruction in person, and by live video link. The immersive nature of the program has succeeded from close to 200 students, but given the quality of the participants – the program is now open to the top 60 entrants so that the program can intensively work with these leaders of tomorrow.
Former participant Lokesh Bevara, who incubated his free P2P shipping venture Send Thru Me through this program said, “Stanford Ignite-Bangalore was a life-changing experience. It helped me better understand how to identify a good venture idea, structure it well and execute it. Getting something like this done in a short span of nine weeks is truly phenomenal. It is an exceptional program that will provide you the right tools to go and conquer the world”. Another alumnus of the program, Kishore Acharya successfully incubated his Food-Tech startup at the program. He said, “I think the Stanford GSB Ignite program is the perfect place to meet like-minded people and learn the art of business planning that leads to successful execution of an idea”
A proud faculty member of the program said that more than 1,200 leaders around the world have taken part in this program and Ignite has helped start over 100 businesses for its students. During the course of the program participants will learn core business skills and work in teams to get the experience of evaluating and developing ideas into a viable business ventures. Professor James Lattin says, “Entrepreneurs need to do a lot of things; coming up with an idea that has the potential to create a new market is just one of them. This program has the potential to benefit not only those who are interested in launching a startup, but also ‘intrapreneurs’ who want to play roles as innovators inside large companies”
Given the diverse nature of the program, it will be a missed opportunity if you didn’t apply for this highly competitive and rewarding program. There are also various scholarship funding opportunities for top participants – the program gives away up to 50% scholarships to deserving participants. The cost of participation at the program is US$ 8,500 which includes course materials, programme events, and lunch and dinner for evening and Saturday sessions.
